After a 10-year hiatus, Concordia’s International Business Club is underway, pushing for a greater presence on campus through new features and technology.

“We hope to create a community of people who are interested in global issues and working together to make a difference in the world,” Elise Woodwick, president of the IBC, said.

According to Woodwick, the club skypes alumni and students studying abroad, building a mentorship program between members and international business professionals. The club also connects with businesses to network and build students’ comprehension of business globalization in real time.

“They can expect to better anticipate the nature of the industry, get tips on how to succeed, learn how to keep in touch while working abroad, and to cultivate helpful connections with alumni,” said Odile Streed, Director of the International Business Program.

According to Streed, the program hopes to launch from existing international relationships in the Offutt School of Business.

“The mission of the Offutt School of Business has included a focus on global issues as a primary pillar of the school,” Streed said. “[IBC] is an essential component to upholding the pillar of global issue awareness and engagement within the school.”

Despite the club’s strong connection to Concordia’s existing business programs, it will accept any students, regardless of their major.

“In the end, it is a small world after all,” Woodwick said.
