The Cobber football team finished 8-2 this season in MIAC play. With half of their wins on home turf, the Cobbers drew an average of 4,839 attendees per game.
Such consistent attendance and support ignited a fire in the 2012 Cobber football team and they had a season of achievements.
Numerous players earned MIAC player-of-the-week honors, they regained possession of The Troll against St. Olaf, became nationally ranked, beat St. John’s at home for the first time in 25 years, crushed Hamline at homecoming and senior Brett Baune broke the record for most career touchdowns.
Head coach Terry Horan said the team is disappointed in just missing a spot in the playoffs, but they have a lot to be proud of.
“We had 24 seniors and they were incredible leaders,” he said. “They set a great example for what hard work can do for a team.”
Horan also said his upcoming team will have big shoes to fill but he’s confident they can do it.
“Once Thanksgiving is over we’ll get going again with workouts,” he said. “Next year’s seniors and the rest of the guys need to be hungry and work hard to replace the boys we’re losing.”
