From October 12 to 14 the Concordia College English department was able to play host to three professional writers from Minnesota and Iowa. Peter C. Brown, was the featured fiction writer and author of multiple books including his latest novel, The Fugitive Wife, which he discussed during his time on campus. Debra Marquart was the poet featured this year and she shared a variety of poems from her multiple publications. Lastly, Catherine Watson was the featured non-fiction writer at the festival, and she presented examples from her many years of writing travel journalism.
The festival began on Wednesday as the writers attended classes in the English department and a reading took place on that night. The writer’s attended more classes on Thursday and Friday and taught master classes in their genre Thursday evening and participated in a panel discussion on Friday during community time.
