A word from the Student Government Association about the new year

Posted on September 18, 2014September 18, 2014 by Contributing Writer

Welcome to campus, Cobbers! And welcome to Concordia Student Government Association 2014-2015. The Executive Team and all SGA members have remained hard at work over the summer. Aside from ensuring a smooth transition into the school year for all student organizations, we are pleased to update you on a few projects:

-the completion of Concordia’s Bike Share program, which launched on September 1

-the new tobacco-free policy which went into effect on August 18

-the completion of the newly renovated weight room, sponsored by SGA and funded by the SPIF

-continued conversations regarding the academic calendar

We look forward to making headway on the following initiatives in the coming year:

-increasing transparency between SGA and the student body

-empowering student organizations

-partnering with Parking Services to monitor current parking regulations and explore alternatives

-lengthening building hours

-strengthening the adviser/advisee relationship

-serving as a liaison between administration, faculty, and students in regards to the academic calendar

As always, SGA is committed to listening to the desires of the student body and delivering results. We invite all of you to communicate with SGA any initiatives that you would like to see fulfilled in the coming year. Additionally, please feel free to contact any of us with questions, comments or concerns regarding the academic calendar. For your convenience (and to aid in our transparency!), we have provided the Executive Team’s and Commissioners’ office hours and email addresses to make communicating with us a breeze. Office hours will be held in the SGA Office in the Parke Student Leadership Center above DS (down the hall to your right upon entering the Parke, SGA is the third door on the right), or in the commons area of the Parke. We are always willing to lend an ear and invest in your voice.
