Erickson named Concordian editor

Posted on April 22, 2021April 21, 2021 by Ingrid Harbo

Dominic Erickson ‘22 has been named the editor-in-chief of The Concordian for the 2021-2022 school year. Erickson is a junior majoring in multimedia journalism and communication, with a minor in film studies. He currently serves as managing editor for The Concordian and is an editor of Afterwork, Concordia’s student-run literary magazine. He also plays in Percussion Ensemble and Symphonic Band.

Erickson began writing film reviews with fellow writer Grant Klevgaard for The Concordian in Sept. 2019 and has since expanded into his own column. He also writes features on arts and culture events in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Erickson anticipates a year of covering the goings-on of a reopening campus, but his plans for the paper move beyond the bounds of Concordia.

“I hope to expand our journalism outside of our campus to include other Fargo-Moorhead things that affect Concordia students,” said Erickson.

Erickson also hopes to create a tight-knit team culture in the newsroom next year. After a year where many organizations, including The Concordian, met virtually, there will be a focus on rebuilding social relationships.

“I know I will be able to bring camaraderie that we have all been missing from events and groups this last year,” said Erickson.

To Erickson, a tight-knit team does not necessarily mean a small one. Growing The Concordian’s team of reporters is one of Erickson’s priorities, and he encourages anybody who is interested in writing to attend a meeting.

“I’m looking for students from all levels of knowledge of journalism,” said Erickson. “I’m looking for people who are willing to learn about the process [and] who are interested in the environment around them.”

If you are interested in writing for The Concordian next year, contact Erickson at dericks9@cord.edu or concord@cord.edu.
