The Cobber Expo is an annual event in which Concordia students get the opportunity to explore the various cocurricular activities available to them.
Registered student organizations set up tables with candy, crafts, raffles and posters to help attendees get to know each club.
The event is officially part of the Concordia First-Year Experience as described on the college’s website meaning it is particularly beneficial for first year students to connect with the campus community.
The expo is set up by the Student Involvement Counsel and showcases club opportunities which involve performing arts, athletic training, academics, hobbies and more.
Specific examples include the Black Student Union, French club, Mock Trial, Cheerleading, Wellness and Sauna club, Student Government Association and Cobb Dance club.
One large student organization represented at the expo was the Campus Events Commision (CEC) which hosts up to 80% of Concordia events according to Andrina Rockstad, a member of the group.
“Getting involved in CEC specifically, you can find us on Cobber Connect and under surveys and forms we have a fall 2025 committee application, but in general join things that are exciting to you! Getting involved is the best way to make the most of your college experience,” says Rockstad.
Another group found at the expo is Concordia on Air, a student run tv station on campus that covers everything news, sports, arts and entertainment. They highlight having fun and offering students a chance to share their voices.
“It’s a really good time,” says Reagan Mueller, a representative of Concordia on Air.
Habitat for Humanity is an international Christian non-profit organization with a chapter at Concordia. At their expo table, students learned about their mission to build affordable homes for people in need. They meet once a week and have plans to go to Georgia, Montana and North Carolina over fall break.
Cobber Crafts also tabled at this event. They are a relatively new club on campus as they are now entering their second semester of running. Every Tuesday in the library Fishbowl students meet to share their love of arts and crafts. Once a month materials are provided for everyone to use such as paper portraits and pipe cleaner flowers.
“If you think you’re not creative, you’re wrong! People can make whatever they want to,” says Mirra Lysne, the club’s social media manager.
Overall, the expo serves as a community bonding event for Cobbers of all kinds to meet others and promote their passions.
