Shopping as a female is complicated, and finding quality clothes for low prices is pretty much impossible. If a shirt is seven dollars, chances are it will fall apart by the fourth wash. It’s easy to find 65 dollar sweaters that will last for several seasons, but nobody in college has the money to splurge like that.
Thankfully, there’s a boutique in Fargo that sells clothes for a fair price and provides quality outfits that will last wash after wash.
Kittson is a small boutique on Main Street. When you walk in, it’s easy to get swept away by the bright colors and light fabrics in the welcoming atmosphere.
Because it is a privately owned business, Kittson is constantly getting new inventory. The likelihood that another girl at school will buy the same shirt as you is very low, and that’s a benefit for those who want to stand out.
It can also be frustrating. What you see is what you get, so if you’re looking for a smaller size and there isn’t one already on the racks, then you’re out of luck. There is no stockroom in the back so what is on the floor is the only inventory for sale.
That being said, the clothes are fairly priced. I bought a dress from Kittson for Harvest Ball. It is a quality chiffon with hand sewn beading, and it only cost $42. Similar dresses with similar detail usually cost anywhere from $60-120. I’m kind of a dress addict, so finding this particular outfit for such a low price was surprising.
In general, the clothes sold here are all high quality. There is very little cotton and when there is, it’s high count fabric and less likely to pill.
The clothes and jewelry are trendy. They sell knee-length leather riding boots for $65 when they usually go for $120 at least. Overall, the merchandise is high quality.
Shopping at Kittson for your entire wardrobe is not financially possible for the average college student, but go ahead and buy several key staples for your outfits. They will last and you won’t go broke. Besides, splurging on a necklace every once in a while isn’t going to kill you. If you must indulge in retail therapy, do it here.
