Letter from the Editor: Anna Weier

Posted on September 12, 2019September 18, 2019 by Annie Weier

Hello Cobbers!

My name is Anna Weier and I am this year’s editor-in-chief of The Concordian. I wanted to give you a quick introduction and what I aim to do with the The Concordian this year.

I am a senior double majoring in environmental studies and heritage and museum studies with a minor in German. I began writing for The Concordian my sophomore year as a variety writer. My junior year, I was the variety section editor. I spent the spring semester in Washington, D.C., and wrote a few editorials during my time there. Outside of the paper, I play the flute in Symphonic Band, sing in the Chapel Choir, and am a member of Lambda Delta Sigma, Concordia’s only sorority. I also work in the college archives, where I get a glimpse of Concordia’s history throughout the years.

The Concordian is for the students, by the students. I may be Editor-in-Chief, but the paper is not mine, nor does it belong to me–it belongs to all of you. It is a place for you to share your opinion, make observations, spark conversation and have your voice heard. If you’re involved with something cool, have an opinion, want to try something new, or have an idea, let us know. This is your paper, for your voice, and it deserves to be heard.

Similar to last year, we are planning on printing every other week, but our website will still be updated with new stories every week. This allows us to have more flexibility with how often we publish and different story formats, as well as being more environmentally sustainable.

I’m so excited for this year, and I can’t wait to continue telling the stories of the Cobber community!
