Am I the only person in Moorhead who had not experienced Village Inn until this week? Also, am I the only person who just assumed Village Inn was a hotel? At any rate, I have been living in Moorhead for the past two years, ignorantly passing by a restaurant that serves breakfast all day long. On Sunday, I went to Village Inn. On Sunday, my life was changed.
Okay maybe I’m being a little dramatic. But this place is good. And perfect for the broke college student. I’ll start with the décor, which was the complete opposite from what I expected when I walked in the restaurant. The walls were covered with bright blue, yellow, and green wallpaper, and the restaurant felt very modern and lively as the post-church rush came in. It was also incredibly spacious, even in the waiting area, which solved the whole awkward standing-too-close-to-twenty-hungry-strangers situation.
We were seated within ten minutes and were greeted by our server rather quickly who was friendly and attentive. The menu was huge and nearly overwhelming, but once I decided to get breakfast I was able to choose my meal quickly. I got a deal called the VIB (Village Inn Breakfast) which lets you choose four items for only $6.95. I chose an egg and cheese omelet, bacon, fruit, and chocolate chip pancakes. It was the perfect amount of food and I left feeling full. An added bonus is that their beverages are “bottomless” and our server would often come fill our juice glasses without even being asked. The coffee was just okay, but the fact that it was technically never-ending made up for it.
Village Inn is also home of Pie Rush Wednesday in which you get a free slice of pie with any dine-in purchase. Like I said—it’s a poor college student’s paradise. They are also honoring Veterans Day (November 11) with a free breakfast for active military members and all who have served. So go down to Village Inn and have some breakfast! I will probably be there.
