Snow drift survival tips

Sergeant Clint Stephenson of the Moorhead Police Department has worked for the Moorhead police since 1997, which was the last record-breaking winter.

“In my 15 years, this is by far the worst conditions we’ve had for the winter season,” Stephenson said.

He explained that the layer of ice underneath all the snow is to blame for this year’s treachery. In particular, Stephenson advises students to be careful on 5th Street—a one-way that has become very narrow due to snow build-up. He added that the intersections of 8th Street and 7th Avenue, and 8th Street and 12th Avenue are notorious for icing up, so be careful.

Stephenson also advises students to be smart when parking on the streets.

“I know what it’s like to go to college where parking is at a premium. Just be smart about it. If there isn’t enough room for your car on the side of the road, don’t park there.”
