Blast to Global Education Past

Posted on October 1, 2011 by Sallie Steiner

Looking around at the Global Education Expo two weeks ago, it was easy to see the important place Global Education holds for Concordia’s students, faculty and administrators, and many take for granted the numerous international programs the college offers. What most people on campus don’t realize, however, is how far the college has come in…

“Better Together” Service Campaign Begins

Posted on October 1, 2011October 1, 2011 by Rachel Brock

Over the past few years the Red River has meant many different things to Concordia College students: no class, sand bagging, displacement. This year a group of Concordia students and partners, the river keepers of Fargo Moorhead, hope to change this view of the river by engaging students in interfaith dialogue through service projects focusing…

“The Lion King” Raises Bar Again

Posted on October 1, 2011 by Krista DiLorenzo

“The Lion King” is still as magical as ever when it was revived and re-released in theaters Sept. 16 through the 25 in its new 3-D format. The original premier of “The Lion King” occurred in 1994, causing our generation to grow up watching it on the family room couch or with only hazy memories…

Lion King 3D: The New Classic

Posted on October 1, 2011October 9, 2011 by Kyle Thiele

“Nothing beats a Disney classic” is what one movie-goer said after seeing “The Lion King” in brand new 3-D technology. There is always some hesitation when an old favorite gets a new twist, but the subtle yet charming updates make this show worth the extra cash. The first thing I noticed about this picture is…

Rhombus Guys Has It All

Posted on October 1, 2011 by Matt Hansen

Rhombus Guys, the popular Grand Forks pizzeria, has opened a new location in Downtown Fargo, offering one-of-a-kind pizzas and an excellent dining atmosphere. It all started in 2000 when two guys just out of high school built a smoothie stand. But one day, co-owner Aaron Hendricks stood back and looked at the stand. Something was…

New Code Blue Emergency Phone Installed

Posted on October 1, 2011 by Regan Whitney

In the summer of 2011, Concordia’s Emergency Response Team opted to have a second Code Blue emergency phone installed on the north side of campus near Park Region Hall. The first Code Blue emergency phone was installed in 2006 between 12th Avenue and Memorial Auditorium. Code Blue primarily provides emergency assistance to anyone nearby. Pressing…

Trans-inclusivity On Bi-gendered Campuses

Posted on October 1, 2011October 1, 2011 by Riah Renee Roe

Gender identity and how it affects a student’s inclusivity is not an issue many face while attending traditional colleges or universities. Many feel their gender is one of the few things considered for anything besides who their freshman roommate is or what dorm they are placed in. However, for the transgender student there are great…

This Ring Thing

Posted on October 1, 2011October 1, 2011 by Patrick Ross

This week, I had the good fortune to order my Cobber ring. For the next six to eight weeks due to shipping and handling, I will anxiously await a small, gold delivery. Being male and a bit of a classicist, it’s the first ring I’ve ever worn, and the only one I plan on wearing…

Let’s Take A Break

Posted on October 1, 2011October 1, 2011 by Katelyn Henagin

Okay Cobbers, it’s Friday. What do you want to be doing? Homework? I thought so. I mean, what else would a Cobber want to do? Okay, I jest, but in all honesty, we work incredibly hard at this school, and even if you don’t think you deserve a break, you probably do. If you cannot…

Editorial

Posted on October 1, 2011October 1, 2011 by Mary Beenken

It’s officially that time of year again: sunrise isn’t until after 7:00, and it’s just going to get later. It’s cold out. We’re only halfway to halfway through the semester, and sometimes it’s difficult to wake up happy. In the wider world, this is true too. The daily news serves as a reminder that no…
