First-year student enrollment has reached its highest level since 2018

MOORHEAD – As of Friday, Aug. 30, Concordia has welcomed 562 first-year students. This is a 28% increase compared to last year.   

“I’m very excited that we were able to attract such a sizable number of students to Concordia this year and that it is a strong class academically speaking as well. I’m equally as excited to see how our talented faculty and staff will help this group grow and achieve their goals,” said Ben Iverson, vice president for enrollment at Concordia College.  

According to Iverson, there were several reasons for the increase in enrollment.  

“First, the admissions and financial aid teams worked incredibly hard this year spearheading out efforts as we attempted to visit more schools, host more students for campus visits and to develop strong relationships with our incoming students,” Iverson said.  

Another reason for this increase is the Concordia Promise which is brand new this semester. The Concordia Promise is financial support to students that covers full tuition for any student eligible to file the FAFSA and with an Adjusted Gross Income under $90,000.  

Concordia has also introduced many new developments at Concordia with 22 new academic programs and co-curriculars like clay target, e-sports, drumline and updated football field, track and Hoyum Hall.  

“With so much growth and opportunity, it’s an exciting time to be a Cobber,” Iverson said.  

Iverson also gives credit to the marketing efforts of the Office of Communications and Marketing.  

“MarCom did a great job telling our story and keeping Concordia in the news last year as well,” he said.  

The largest incoming class since 2018 has Concordia College flowing with excitement and possibilities.  

“The campus is buzzing with excitement,” said President Colin Irvine.  

Iverson said he hopes that Concordia will continue to see similar enrollment numbers in the future.  

“I certainly hope that as a campus community, we can capitalize on the momentum generated this year and that we’ll continue to see larger incoming classes like this one in the future,” Iverson said.
