A picture-perfect event – Concordia’s annual poster sale a success

MOORHEAD – From Chappell Roan to a cat dressed as Gandalf, The College Poster Sale Company (CPSC) has over 1,000 differently designed posters aimed at college students. On Sept. 6, 2024, CPSC visited Concordia to sell its posters, and the annual event attracted a large portion of the student body. Student Government Association (SGA) sponsored the event.

“I absolutely adore the poster sale,” sophomore Zeke Langamo said. “They have so many options and I could spend hours looking at all the different posters. It’s also a nice way to bond with people over common interests, like if you notice someone is getting the same poster as you.”

According to CPSC’s website, they have been hosting poster sales for over forty years and travel across the country to different college campuses to hold the events.

“I actually live in Philadelphia, you know, and we drive all the way out to UCLA, which is the last school we visit,” William Snyder, an employee of CPSC and host of the Concordia poster sale, said.

The company travels for three months across the country. According to Snyder, traveling is a “big perk” of working for CPSC.

The event was well attended and “got very busy during lunchtime,” Snyder said. Additionally, many students ended up purchasing posters, and some of the best-selling posters among the students were of Chappell Roan and Phoebe Bridgers.

The poster sale is popular among college students not only because of the variety of designs on the posters but also because of their affordability.

“I love having posters up in my room, but they’re often really pricey and, look, I’m a college student. I can’t be spending $40 on a poster. But the posters here are around $10 which is so awesome and super affordable. It’s great!” Langamo said.

The affordability of the posters draws more people to the event, and according to the CPSC website, “As the biggest importer and distributor of posters in the United States, The College Poster Sale Company can sell our posters directly to students at deeply discounted pricing.”

Walking through the event, approximately 50 students were crowded around tables flipping through large books containing different posters. Each book contained about 20 different posters, and students shuffled around to look at each one. Additionally, to showcase the products, many posters were hung up in Knutson Campus Center.
