Speech team captures first place at weekend tournament

The Concordia College speech team placed first overall at the Bill Robertz Invitational tournament Sunday, Oct., 16 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Alexander MacArthur won the individual sweepstakes competition after placing in the final rounds in five categories including Program Oral Interpretation, Informative, Poetry, Dramatic Interpretation, and Prose.

Other members of the team placing in the final rounds Sunday included Britt Aasmundstad (5th, Extemporaneous), Christina Hennings (5th, Dramatic Interpretation), and Andrew Eilola and George Kueppers (1st, Duo).

At the Larry Schnoor tournament Saturday, Oct., 15 at the University of Minnesota – Mankato, final round placements included Britt Aasmundstad (6th, Communication Analysis and 3rd, Extemporaneous), Andrew Eilola (2nd, Prose and 4th, Impromptu), George Kueppers and Andrew Eilola (3rd, Duo) and Alexander MacArthur, (1st, Prose; 2nd, Dramatic Interpretation; 6th, Informative; 3rd, Poetry). The team placed second overall.

Alex Elizarraga also contributed to the team.

The team is coached by Megan Ochorlski and Chris Scott. The team will travel to Doane College and the University of Nebraska – Omaha on October 29th and 30th.
