“During the 2016-2017 academic year I will be an English Teaching Assistant in Germany, in which I will be able to work with students in helping to create an understanding between German-American cultures while engaging in language learning. In this regard, I am able to immerse myself in the German culture, while incorporating elements of American culture in the classroom setting, thereby deepening student learning.
In fact, the Fulbright site states: “The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks, allowing the grantee to gain an appreciation of others’ viewpoints and beliefs, the way they do things, and the way they think.”
