Letter to the editor: vote for Rob Kupec

Posted on October 6, 2022October 6, 2022 by Grace Halvorson

Cobbers, welcome to election season! Many of us are voting for just the first or second time, which is exciting. If you have questions on how to register to vote from your dorm address here at Concordia, head to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website. Vote early or request your absentee ballot today.

As a lifelong resident of Moorhead, I care deeply about our state and city. Positive change often begins on the local level. I write today to encourage you to vote for caring, progressive leaders. A candidate that I am excited to vote for is Rob Kupec.

Kupec, a former meteorologist at KVRR, is running for Minnesota State Senate here in Moorhead. He communicates a bold vision grounded in hope, solidarity, and practical action and Rob is focused on pragmatic steps forward. He will fight for sustainable solutions to our changing climate and Rob will support high-quality public education and programs such as the MN StateGrant – which funds many Cobbers’ educations. He is also fighting to protect reproductive rights in Minnesota and will stand up for a women’s right to make choices over her own body.

As college students, it is crucial that we responsibly engage in the world by voting for leaders who will work toward the well-being of everyone in our community. Kupec will do just that. Kupec is genuine, compassionate, and motivated. I am confident that Rob Kupec is the responsible, smart choice for Minnesota and Moorhead, and I urge you to vote for him in this election.
