Concordia Public Safety investigates burglary at Hallett Hall

MOORHEAD — On Aug. 26, 2024, Concordia Public Safety issued the following Security Alert via email:  

“On Sunday evening, August 25, at approximately  8:15 pm, a garden-level window screen was cut at Hallet Hall, and valuables were taken by reaching through the cut screen while the residents were away from their room. No one was injured, and this incident was reported to the Moorhead Police Department.” 

The dorm room number, student information and valuables taken were not disclosed to protect the victims involved. However, Concordia Public Safety did release a few reminders regarding safety on campus.  

“Keep all doors and windows locked, park in well-lit areas, do not leave valuables visible in your residence or in your vehicle, use the SafeWalk service for escorts on and around campus by calling 218-299-3123,” said the security alert.  

On Aug. 28, 2024, the Director of Public Safety, Bill MacDonald sent out an additional email discussing a larger list of safety reminders. This email touched on bicycle security, the High-Intensity Activated crossWalk (HAWK), Omnilert e2campus and the campus Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).   

“If you see something, say something right away and stay on the line until you are instructed to hang up,” MacDonald stated in the email on Aug. 28.
