Autumn is just around the corner, leaving one simple question- where can the festivities be found?

With autumn approaching, Concordia and the Fargo/Moorhead area is stacked with activities to satiate fall appetites.

Sophomore Community Engagement Coordinator Andrina Rockstad shares that Campus Events Commission (CEC) is cooking up some fun activities for the fall.

Some plans for the next few months include, but are not limited to:

Positivity Pumpkins on Oct. 30 and a Silent Disco on Nov. 24. Andrina has a love for fall festivities and is happy to be part of CEC and their organization of events.

She shared a love of sweater weather in her life outside of CEC. Rockstad recommends grabbing an exclusive fall drink from Twenty Below Coffee Co. called “Gourd Grief,” a specialty similar to a pumpkin spice latte but made with squash instead.

More recommendations of Rockstad’s are The Village Inn’s $10 brunch and festive baking with peers.

“You get the fun of baking and the fun of eating, but you also get to share it with people,” she said.

Rockstad shares that she looks forward to the Concordia Thanksgiving dinner before the break. The dinner includes turkey, pumpkin pie, apple crisp, lefse and other popular feast foods.

“Eating a Thanksgiving meal with your friends and seeing your professors carve the turkey is so heartwarming,” she said.

Rockstad suggests the Great Straw Corn Maze and the Haunted Farm for fun off-campus trips.

“At The Haunted Farm they chase you with chainsaws,” she said.

Junior Taya Oberloh is another Cobber excited for the falling leaves.

“I’m most excited to see the ‘Witch’ show that the Theatre department is putting on. We have so many talented actors and actresses on campus,” Oberloh said.

She’s also looking forward to cheering for the Cobbers this football season

“Saturday afternoon Cobbers games are so fun, they’re like the best way to enjoy fall on campus,” she said.

Off campus, Oberloh enjoys drinking a pumpkin spice latte and getting lost in The Great Straw Corn Maze. Oberloh also enjoys carving pumpkins, baking cookies and walking through the Red River Market in her free time.

Recruitment captain of Lambda Delta Sigma, Sophomore Abby Lysne, is also excited to see what her sorority has planned for the fall.

Abby shares that now that rush is done, she and her sisters will be making the most of autumn on campus with long time traditions.

Outside her sorority, she recommends spending time at Rosewild trivia nights and playing active games outside in the warmer part of the harvest season.

She would spend the ideal fall day taking a scenic walk in Gooseberry Mound Park then go to Maplewood to admire the foliage while enjoying some pumpkin seeds and candy corn with peanuts and end the day with a trip to The Red River Market.

“It’s really cool to see everyone in the community come together in one spot with lots of fun activities and vendors,” she said.

This autumn season, Lysne plans to carve pumpkins, plan with the Homecoming committee and enjoy football games.

Sophomore Gigi Graham is happy to share the fall season with her friends and fellow Cobbers. She is an active member of the Cobber community and is very excited to attend the on-campus activities.

“I will definitely go to ‘Positivity Pumpkins’, I made three last year and it was so fun,” she said.

Graham also likes to bake with friends, drink a hot oat milk matcha with a pumpkin cream cheese muffin from Caribou Coffee or Starbucks, and seek out the best taco spots with her partner.

Graham looks forward to attending the Lil Bitz Pumpkin Patch with her partner and friends and checking out other upcoming events in the F-M area.

Between pumpkin patches, sorority sister traditions and squash themed coffee from Twenty Below, Concordia and the Fargo/Moorhead area have your autumn itineraries covered. Check in with CEC, Lambda Delta Sigma or your peers as festive as Graham and Oberloh to celebrate a beautiful fall in 2024.
