Greta Goes Perfect 

 MOORHEAD – Records are set to be beat, but firsts can never be rewritten in history. This is the case for Concordia senior Greta Tollefson. On Oct 1., Tollefson became the first in Cobber trap shooting history to shoot 25/25 in a round. 

“It was competition day, and the previous competition day didn’t go so well for me so, I was a little nervous”, Tollefson said. 

It was also the day that Concordia President Colin Irvine and Mr. Scheel (president of Scheels) came to shoot with the team. 

“We practiced Monday, and I shot a 25 on Tuesday,” she said. 

Tollefson had been working diligently on her hard rights, a specific flight of the Pidgeon, and shooting from positions four and five of the five spot rotating system. 

On the day of the competition, Greta was feeling confident in her shot. 

“I hit all five on station four, I hit all five on station five, which is when I knew I was probably doing pretty well,” she said. “On the 24th clay Pidgeon, I pulled the trigger and thought that might be a miss, but it hit. And then for my 25th I was just ready to hit it. It was so exciting because I was the last person shooting in the group, so right after I turned around and Coach Cashmark and Lily were both sitting there and kind of gave a fist pump, and it was exciting” 

It was special for Tollefson since she is the first to achieve a perfect round in Concordia trap shooting history. 

“I feel like you don’t have this opportunity often, I mean were obviously adding new sports every now and then, but I think about like basketball or football or baseball- like those records go way back to when it started. So to be here in 2024 setting a record for a new sport- its crazy. Its something I didn’t think coming to Concordia that would happen for me. It wasn’t in my agenda,” Tollefson said. 

This is not Tollefson’s first milestone in Concordia sport as she is a MIAC 22 recipient in Women’s Basketball. The MIAC 22 award goes to the student athlete with the highest-grade point average who meets similar high athletic performance.
